The Core Values of Grace LutheranPrayer |
|||
|
We greatly value the opportunity that God gives us to approach Him in prayer. We believe that He answers our prayers. Therefore we bring before Him not only our needs, but we show Christian love and concern as we continue in prayer for our church family, neighbors, nation, and world who are in need of God's love and mercy. Luke 11:1-13 - "One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.' He said to them, 'When you pray, say:
`Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.`'
Hebrews 4:16 - "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Philippians 4:6 - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." 1 Timothy 2:1-2 - "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." Romans 8:26 - "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express."
